Elafonisi ( Ελαφονήσι , Elafonissi) is a small island located at the end of the south-western edge of Crete. A characteristic feature of Elafonisi is the shallow lagoon connecting it with Crete. Warm and crystal clear water with a color changing from green to deep blue, is adjacent to beautiful wide beaches, whose white sand is in some places mixed with broken shells creating picturesque pink stripes. This amazing blend of colors makes Elafonisi easily claim to be called an exotic paradise.
Elafonisi, however, is not only idyllic pictures, because there are also two tragic stories connected with this place. The wind called livas blowing from the Sahara can create some of the highest waves in the Mediterranean Sea in this region of Crete. The Austrian Lloyd liner convinced of this, which sank here in 1907, and its victims rest on the island. Another tragic history associated with this beach is the slaughter of 850 women and 40 men made by the Egyptian army in 1824 under the leadership of Pasha Ibrahim.
The most popular ways to get to Elafonisi are the route along the west coast of Crete or an alternative route through the Topolia Gorge. In my opinion, it is best to cross both routes, because they are equally interesting and picturesque. Regardless of the route chosen, coming from Chania, you have to take the New National Road more or less to Kissamos. Before this you have to make a decision to choose a further route, if you decide to drive through the Gorge of Topolia, then take the exit from New National Road just behind Kokkino Metochi and if you are driving along the coast you have to follow Kissamos towards the west coast.
Both roads are relatively well marked and you should not have a problem getting to Elafonisi. Behind the village of Kefali, both routes merge again. Not far from this road is the picturesque white monastery of Chrissoskalitissa. This church is known mainly from the legend circulating on it. According to this story, one of the steps leading to the top of the monastery is made of gold, but only sinless people can see it. The monastery is just 3 kilometers away from Elafonisi beach. After reaching the place, the car can be left on a vast wild car park, where shady places under trees are in the "price" and rather hard to get them. There are several taverns on the beach and small guesthouses where you can spend the night.
Elafonisi is one of the biggest tourist attractions of Western Crete next to Samaria. Virtually every person going to Crete has heard or will definitely hear some information about this beach. Unfortunately, the popularity of Elafonisi makes it quite crowded. In July and August this place attracts over 2.5 thousand. tourists a day. If someone is looking for peace, they should appear on this beach in the morning or wait until afternoons, when most people are already starting to return to hotels. Especially a lot of tourists come to Elafonisi on weekends, so these days are best spent on visiting other interesting places in Crete.

Krios beach is located about 9 km west of Paleochora and it is also the last beach on this section of the southern coast, accessible by road. For Crius, the asphalt road leaves the coast line and goes deep into the island, turning into a gutter.

Witam jak trafić na Vai Bay plaże palmową? Koło jakiego miasta leży ? Jakie inne plaże poleca pan blisko miejscowości Malia.
Niestety zdecydowana większość ciekawych topowych plaż położona jest dosyć daleko od Malii. Plaża Vai znajduje się kilkadziesiąt kilometrów na wschód od miasta Sitia. W przypadku dojazdu z Malii oznacza to całkiem długi dojazd.

Harmonogram rejsów Chora Sfakion - Paleochora - Elafonisi

Podczas naszego pobytu w Komitades - planujemy popłynąć na Elafonisi. Jak się tam dostać statkiem?? Czy znajdziemy gdzieś harmonogram i cennik. Najlepiej byłoby z Chora Sfakion ale nie wiem czy to możliwe.
Niestety w Twoim przypadku nie będzie to takie proste. Pierwsza kwestia jaką powinnaś uwzględnić jest to, że promy z Chora Sfakion do Paleochory nie pływają bezpośrednio. Będziesz musiała przesiąść się w Agia Roumeli. Podróż zajmie Ci bardzo dużo czasu i na pewno nie uda Ci się dopłynąć tak aby zdążyć tego samego dnia na łódź wypływającą z Paleochory do Elafonisi. Już zupełnie inną kwestią jest koszt takiego transferu między Chora Sfakion a Paleochorą. W jedną stronę zapłacisz około 20€ od osoby. Myślę, że takie rozwiązanie nie ma sensu.

Hej, z Panormos do Elafonissi potrzeba co najmniej 2,5 -3 godziny aby dojechać do Elafonissi. Różnica w czasie zależy od tego czy pojedziecie przez wąwóz Topolia czy zachodnim wybrzeżem.
wynajem auta
Witam :) chciałam się dowiedzieć ile mniej więcej kosztuje wynajęcie auta na Krecie (na dobę lub dwa dni)? I oczywiście w którym rejonie najlepiej wynająć hotel, tak aby nie było za daleko do części atrakcji (myślę też o Elafonisi). Pozdrawiam :)

Witaj, cena samochodu jest uzależniona przede wszystkim od klasy i wielkości auta. Najtańsze typu Kia Picanto to koszt około 40€ / dobę. Najdroższe samochody potrafią kosztować nawet ponad 500 €/dobę. Krótki czas wypożyczenia podwyższa koszty, tu obowiązuje reguła że im dłuższy okres wynajmu tym cena za dobę mniejsza. Jednak nie wszystkie wypożyczalnie chcą wypożyczać samochody na tak krótki okres. Np. polski pośrednik Autoway wypożycza samochodu na minimum 3 dni. W dużych sieciowych wypożyczalniach nie powinno jednak być z tym problemu. Na poniższej stronie znajdziesz wyszukiwarkę samochodów, możesz po określeniu kryteriów porównać ceny: http://www.crete.pl/samochodem-po-krecie/samochodem-po-krecie.html Zwracaj tylko uwagę na typ ubezpieczenia. Najlepsze jest ubezpieczenie bez wkładu własnego czy zabezpieczenia kartą. To jednak też podwyższa koszty wynajmu.
Co do hotelu to ideałem byłby zatem środek wyspy czyli okolice Rethymno. Stąd będzie mniej więcej jednakowa odległość zarówno w okolice Heraklionu, jak i zachodniej Krety. Jeśli jednak w planach masz zwiedzanie przede wszystkim zachodniej części wyspy to zdecydowanie lepiej poszukać czegoś w rejonie Chanii.
Nie wiem na ile się wybierasz ale Kreta jest duża - z jednego krańca na drugi jest ok 6 godzin jazdy - trasa Xerocampos - Chania. jeśli nie chcesz spędzić urlopu w samochodzie ta wybierz najbardziej Cie interesujące 1/3 wyspy i znajdź zakwaterowoanie pośrodku. Jeśli chcesz zwiedzać to najlepiej znaleźć pensjonat, bo nie trzymają Cię godziny, jeśli wyjazd zorganizowany z biurem to to hotel z dwoma posiłkami i żeby drugi posiłek był jak naj dłużej dostępny - w czasach jak jeszcze nie było regularnych lotów na Kretę byliśmy kiedyś w hotelu gdzie śniadanie wydawali od 7:00 a obiadokolację do 22 - wtedy był czas na wycieczki.
Parking tylko płatny
W tej chwili dostępny jest tylko parking płatny. Dalszy wjazd bliżej plaży i parkowanie pod drzewami jest niemożliwe bo zagrodzili drogę. Koszt parkingu to 5E za cały dzień.Parkng najbliżej wejście jest naprzeciwko resortu Elafonisi.
