When in 2008 we went to Crete for the first time, we did not think that this island would enter our life so much, changing it even from the kitchen . Since then, along its roads, we have traveled by car almost 13,000 kilometers , we went several dozen kilometers on footpaths and visited many places using local public transport. Over the space of over 3.5 months, which we spent together in this cradle of civilization, we traveled this island along the length and breadth of sightseeing not only the most famous and described places in guidebooks, but also those mentioned by only a few sources.
We have captured the beauty of Crete on nearly 25,000 photographs and over a dozen hours of movies that you can view on our pages and Facebook profile. We describe the places where we were and we consider them worth visiting, illustrating the descriptions only with our photographs. We try to verify the history of the places described on the basis of several sources, which is not always easy, as information is often contradictory. As a result, we certainly have not avoided any inaccuracies on our pages for which we apologize in advance :)
The main purpose of the crete.pl website is to promote independent sightseeing . We want to show you alternative ways of visiting Crete beyond the offer of optional trips offered by travel agencies. Since 2009, on our website we have been trying to bring closer the history of interesting places, local customs and contemporary events related to Crete and Greece. Crete.pl is a kind of continuation and development of our two previous subjective guides in Crete ( www.kreta.favorites.pl and www.westcrete.favorites.pl ), which you may already know. In July 2014, the third guide available at www.sfakia.crete.pl was premiered
We hope that the work we put into preparing our pages will be useful during your holidays in Crete.
Our old map has served us faithfully for a good few years

Travel by plane is by far the fastest way to get to Crete. Depending on the city from which the plane takes off, the flight takes about 2.5 to about 3 hours. On this page you will find information on how to prepare for the check-in and security procedure.
The website contains a description of the factors affecting the number of stars awarded by EOT to individual hotels. The current hotel rating system in Greece is based on four basic categories, which in the descending order (from the best to the weakest category) represent the letters L, A, B and C. The Greek way of assessment is characterized by a wide variation in the quality of rooms in hotels in the same category EOT. A large discrepancy results from the award of a large number of component points for the assessment of public space, i.e. reception, waiting room or swimming pool.
