Stalida

Stalida is located in the central-eastern part of Crete. It is less than 30 km from Heraklion airport. Located directly along the coast, it is one of the most famous tourist destinations in Crete, which definitely comes alive with the advent of the tourist season

Night in Stalida
It's only at night that Stalida is teeming with real life

Most of its buildings are hotels and private apartments, which before the crisis were occupied by many guests. The town itself is a few streets and smaller streets, among which it is rather difficult to get lost. There are no major attractions here, except for a large number of shops, rentals, pubs and clubs.

During the day, there is a rather dreamy atmosphere here, tourists enjoy first of all the benefits of the nearby sandy (!) Beach. Much bigger traffic is done here in the evening, when touts start trying to catch as many customers as possible to taverns and pubs. Evening passage through the main street of Stalida can give you a headache. A multitude of various restaurants, clubs, stalls and ubiquitous music causes that tourists looking for, above all, Stalid's peace rather likely will not like it, because they will not have a chance to rest here. On the other hand, people looking for fun in the first place will feel good here.

Sandy beach in Stalida
The wide sandy beach is one of Stalida's greatest assets

Despite the above-mentioned negative aspects, Stalida is still a more peaceful place than nearby Malia , which, unfortunately, also enjoys a much worse reputation.

Nevertheless, focusing on the advantages of this town, it must be admitted that Stalida also has two great assets. The first one is a sandy beach, which is a rarity in Crete. The second advantage will be appreciated primarily by tourists planning a more active holiday combined with visiting the island. The location of Stalida makes it an excellent starting point from which you can go to many places worth visiting:

  • Less than 30 km separate Stalida from Heraklion and the palace next to Knossos , which probably does not need to be presented to anyone.
  • Nearly 40 km to the east of Stalida, we find the village of Elounda , from which ships for the nearby island of lepers - Spinalonga - are constantly leaving.
  • On the outskirts of the previously mentioned Malia, there are ruins of one of the major Minoan palaces .
  • 34 km divide Stalida from the charming village of Kritsa , where you can feel the atmosphere of the Greek village. Right next to this place you will find the ruins of the ancient summer city and the Byzantine temple of Panga and Kera .
  • Even closer is the Lashiti Plateau (about 20 km) next to which is known to every fan of Greek mythology - the Dikte cave .
  • A slightly larger distance (about 70 km) divides Stalida from Gortyna, where the ruins of the city are well preserved. 8 km after Gortyna is the palace in Phaistos (Festos) , hence it is a few kilometers away from the beach in Matala.

Stavros (Σταύρος)

Stavros used to be a small fishing village. Today, it is primarily a tourist destination, but in a positive sense. About 14 km from Chania and located on a picturesque bay on the northern coast of the Akrotiri peninsula, it is known for its beautiful sandy beach and clear blue sea.

Gialos macros

Gialos macros

Makry Gialos is one of the less-appreciated tourist destinations in Crete. It's a pity, because unlike those located on the north coast, it is here that we can enjoy the full tourist infrastructure and a good sandy beach, without sacrificing peace.

Koszt wynajęcia samo jodu w ciągu ostatnich kilku lat wzrósł z ok 15 do 25 - 30 euro i jakoś nie widać by turyści rezygnowali z wynajmu.
Zadady podobne w Hiszpanii i Grecji.
