Salads

The most famous salad, which probably everyone associates with Greece, is Horiatiki salata known as 'Greek'. In our opinion, however, it is worth getting to know other delicious salads that are made in Greece, because the combination of ingredients and flavors may turn out to be surprisingly good.

Salad with grilled haloumi and zucchini

Halloumi cheese is one of our favorite Greek products. When grilled, it is an excellent snack and addition to other mezes. Recently, while studying our new acquisition, Vefa Alexiadou's lucky book on Greek cuisine, we found a new way to serve halloumi cheese.

Cauliflower Salat

Recently, we had the opportunity to eat cauliflower in the form of a salad prepared in a Cretan way. Onions added to cooking neutralized some of its aroma and flavor, making it more mild. Cretan olive oil, parsley and lemon complemented the taste.

Horiatiki salata - Greek salad

This traditional salad is the basis in any Greek tavern. On the menu you will find it under the popular name of Greek Salad or Horiatiki. It is simple to make and very tasty. The only condition for its successful preparation is very fresh and ripe vegetables.

Broad bean salad

This is one of our favorite salads of Greek cuisine. Along with the appearance of the young bean on sale, we absorb a lot of it. For a salad to come out tasty beans must be young, so in our latitude we can enjoy it for a very short time.

Patatosalata - a Greek potato salad

Potato salad is fast to prepare, you can eat it either hot, at room temperature or straight from the fridge. The set of products needed for preparation is simply typical - we can find similar in a bean salad with a black eyelet.

With this very simple and tasty salad, we met for the first time in the Sfakia region of Crete. To prepare it you need a small amount of ingredients, and the effect is great. The basic ingredient here is a certain bean called black eye with a very distinctive appearance.

gość PiotrWie Jeździliśmy na Kretę od 2008r, bywały lata że byliśmy w kilku kawałkach w sumie czterdzieści kilka dni ( samoloty z Wrocławia latały w piątek wieczorem tak że można było polecieć po pracy, powrotem był w poniedziałek w nocy więc za 11 dni urlopu można było być 17 dni, jak się zaplanowało z jakimś świętem to można było być 2 x 17 dni i raz 10 dni) i z roku na rok było coraz więcej ludzi - nie tylko na plażach ale ... (...)

Czy wyspa jest w stanie pomieścić 15 mln turystów, zapewne tak. Pytanie moje: skąd będzie woda?! Jak już brakuje, tama na Aposelemis sucha, gdzie ścieki popłyną, gdzie będą składowane śmieci??? Smutne, że wyspa zamienia się na globalną destynację.. rozumiem, że pieniądze są ważne ale żeby dewastować naturalne tereny np.triopetra, plakias etc... przykro

Można próbować zrozumieć ludzi, którzy z tego żyją. Można też puścić ludzi na żywioł i nie zajmować się takimi głupotami, jak ofiary śmiertelne.
