In Greece, during the holidays, the table cannot miss melomakaron , i.e. shortbread cookies with a slight orange note. After baking, they are dipped in honey-cinnamon syrup and sprinkled with walnuts.
The name of these cookies consists of a combination of the words meli (μέλι), meaning honey, and Greek-Latin pasta, which can be translated as kneading or maceration. As you can see, the name itself emphasizes the taste and preparation of these Greek sweets.
If you haven't done them yet, we strongly encourage you to do so. Below we remind you of the recipe for melomacarona.
