The Koules Fortress is one of the most characteristic monuments of Heraklion . Once it was an element of fortifications that formed a tight ring that girded the capital of Crete. Today, this building has only a historical function and reminds of the power of the Venetians who ruled Crete during the period of splendor of this fortress. We invite you to watch a short movie that we shot while walking by the Koules fortress.
The film was made during the cruise between Chora Sfakion and Agia Roumeli. Along the way from the ferry, you can admire many interesting places located on the south coast of Crete such as the road to Anopoli, charming Loutro, beaches in Phoenix, the outlet of the Aradena gorge, Marmara beach and the green hills of Agia Roumeli.
If you have not been able to get here today, we are sending you a special invitation from Teo Vafidis. We spent several unusually pleasant hours in the company of our friends from Crete (Physis of Crete) and the countless number of guests who visited their stand. We were very pleased to meet some of our readers. If you are looking for a good olive oil and organic cosmetics from Crete, then tomorrow is the opportunity to buy them (remember to take cash).
Today we offer you a quick virtual walk through the streets of Rethymnon, which is the third largest city of Crete. The city lies in the north-western part of Crete, more or less in the middle of the New National Road section connecting Chania and Heraklion. For many years he has been competing with Chania for the title of the most beautiful city of Crete. Find out for yourself whether it deserves to be called.
