Trip Advisor's Best Beaches 2025 Ranking

Last month we reported that Crete had once again made it into the top ten of the world's Best of the Best Destinations Travelers' Choice rankings, published by popular travel website Trip Advisor. This is a list of the 25 best destinations in the world to travel to this year, and Crete has been a high-ranking destination for many years.

Falasarna Beach

Best of the Best is not the only Trip Advisor ranking that mentions Crete. The second such list is the list of the 25 best beaches in the world and Europe. So far, for many years, the most popular beaches in Crete, namely Balos and Elafonissi, have appeared here most often. But how does it look in this year's Best of the Best Beaches list?

In both of these rankings, we are in for a small surprise because for the second year in a row, travelers did not indicate the most famous beaches of Crete, namely Balos and Elafonissi. In 2025, the only Cretan beach that was on the list of the 25 best beaches in the world was Falasarna . This beautiful, vast and sandy beach took 19th place. As for other Greek beaches, in this ranking we will find only Myrtos beach located on the island of Kefalonia.

This time, the Elafonissi beach visible in the photo once again failed to gain worldwide recognition.

Two Cretan beaches have been included in the ranking of the best European beaches, and a total of four Greek beaches have been recognized. Falasarna also qualified for this ranking, taking a high 6th place. The second Cretan beach is the famous beach in Matala , which came in 14th place. Other Greek beaches that have made it to this list are Myrtos located in Kefalonia (8th place) and Anthony Quinn Bay in Rhodes (12th place).

The absence of the two most popular Cretan beaches, Balos and Elafonissi, in the rankings shouldn't worry anyone. Both of these places have been struggling with the problem of hypertourism for years during the high tourist season.

Although there are quite a few similar lists and rankings published, it is worth paying special attention to the Travelers' Choice rankings. The winners of these lists are selected using an algorithm that analyzes the opinions and ratings of places posted by users in the last 12 months. This methodology takes into account not only the quality, but also the quantity of reviews of destinations. Thanks to this, for people planning trips, this data is reliable and credible. The large reach of TripAdisor and its popularity therefore indicate current tourist trends. Some people, when planning their holidays, take into account such information and make their travel choices based on it. This portal is present in 43 markets and available in 24 languages. Over a billion reviews and opinions collected mean that it is one of the most important global tourist websites.

Dla mnie Elafonissi przereklamowana

Balos/Gramvousa wywarły na mnie największe wrażenie, Falassarna niedoceniana, Elafonissi przeceniana.

Ale tak poza tym Kreta nie ma za wiele pięknych plaż. 

Cypr, Majorka, Sardynia - tam przy hotelach są od razu piękne plaże.
