If you are planning a flight to Greece or within it next Wednesday (February 28), it is worth knowing that on that day the local airports will be paralyzed by a general strike. The 24-hour protest will consequently mean the suspension of all connections to and from Greek airports. The strike was announced by the Confederation of Trade Unions of Greek Civil Servants (ADEDY).
The main reasons for the protests are the high cost of living caused by inflationary pressures, as well as the fight for a salary increase for public sector employees. Another aspect that trade unions want to draw attention to are the still applicable wage freeze regulations, which were imposed in 2016-17. There are also demands from protesting employees to increase the tax-free amount to PLN 12,000. €.
Staying on the aviation topic, we also have good news. Tomorrow at 3 p.m. renovation works at Heraklion airport will be completed. The local Civil Aviation Office provided information yesterday that all works went according to plan and the runway is ready for use again. We wrote about the scope of this renovation work and its reasons in one of our previous news. If you are interested in details, we encourage you to read the article .
