First international flights to Crete

data_2022-03-27 20:45:21 2022-03-27 20:45:21

Today, the first tourist flights from Germany, Poland, Great Britain, Hungary and France have landed at the "Ioannis Daskalogiannis" airport in Chania. It can therefore be said that there has been a symbolic beginning of the tourist season in Crete. A further seven international flights are scheduled for tomorrow. During the next week, further arrivals to Crete will be continued from various places in Europe.

The first tourists and the first heat

It also seems that the first tourists this year will find the beginning of high temperatures, which this week may reach even 30 degrees. At the same time, at the end of the week, they will also have the opportunity to experience African dust. Most likely, it will reach the island in large numbers around Thursday-Friday. It is quite common in Crete in spring. For people who have not had the opportunity to see something similar before, it is both fascinating and, unfortunately, quite bothersome.

Current protocols related to Covid-19

The first flights to Crete are a good time to update the covid rules that are still in force when crossing the Greek border and on the spot.

No compulsory PLF

From March 15, 2022, the obligation to complete the PLF form before traveling has been abolished. In the previous two years, it was not possible to cross the Greek border without this form. Currently, after the obligation to fill in the PLF has been lifted, this form is only optional. It can be completed in order to be able to issue an EU certificate with the current test result.

Travelers who hold the EU Covid Certificate and arrive in Greece between March 21 and April 4, 2022 are not required to show an additional negative Covid test result. This applies especially to citizens of the EU member states, the Schengen area and 35 non-EU countries that have joined the EU Covid Certificate System.

Citizens of the USA, Australia and Canada may enter Greece on the condition of showing a vaccination certificate, a recovery certificate or a negative PCR or antigen test result. Travelers from other countries, regardless of their vaccination status or convalescent certificate, will enter Greece only if they show negative test results.

Random testing is still in place

For now, there is still a rule that anyone coming to Greece, regardless of the certificate held, may be randomly subjected to a mandatory PCR or antigen test. Refusal to participate in the study may result in refusal to enter Greece. If a tourist receives a positive result during a random coronavirus test, he or she is required to undergo a five-day quarantine in a place designated by the country's authorities. With persistent symptoms of Covid-19, travelers must remain isolated until they recover completely.

A little loosening

Although the Greek authorities have announced that they will ease the restrictions related to the pandemic, at the moment only the obligation to wear masks outside has been lifted, and the occupancy rate in communication and in stadiums may again reach 100%.

From April 15, Greece will also stop fining people aged 60+ who have not been vaccinated. This provision was introduced from the beginning of this year and only applies to Greek citizens who currently pay € 100 per month for non-vaccination. Following the introduction of this provision, the number of vaccinated seniors increased by another 250,000 people, and today 90% of the population in this age group have received the Covid-19 vaccine.

Where they won't let you in without a certificate

In Greece, at this point, there is still an obligation to present covid passes before entering nightclubs, closed parts of restaurants, as well as theaters, cinemas, museums, exhibitions, conferences and sports facilities. Access to these facilities is not permitted for unvaccinated persons or those with an incomplete vaccination course.

As the tourist season begins, we will be monitoring changes to the pandemic laws more closely. We have not informed you about this in the last few months, as the changes have basically affected Greek citizens. Besides, tourists on the island are practically absent during the winter period.

gość dodekanezowiec: Moim zdaniem - gdyby porównywać Grecję, Hiszpanię i południowe Włochy to: 1. W kategorii autentyczność: Włochy (np. Kalabria, Sycylia) - 9/10, Grecja - 8/10, Hiszpania - 3/10 2. W kategorii "frontem do potrzeb turysty": Hiszpania - 9/10, Grecja - 7 i pół/10, Włochy - 4/10.  Hiszpania to jakość hoteli, świetna infrastruktura, ale i taka "macdonaldyzacja turystyki" + blokowiska.
