Cretan Daily Cruises is the largest and most well-known company in Crete offering full-day cruises. This year, however, they only offer two standard routes. These are cruises to very well-known places such as the Balos lagoon with the island of Gramvousa and a cruise to the island of Chrissi. Cruises to Balos/Gramvousa have already started, while cruises to Chrissi are scheduled to start on May 20.
The cruise to Balos and Gramvousa can be recommended primarily to those vacationing in the western part of Crete. Access from more distant regions of the island is possible, but it greatly extends the overall duration of the trip. Ships depart from the port of Kissamos daily at 10:40, and the entire cruise lasts 7 hours.
Unfortunately, this year the ticket prices have also been raised. The current price for an adult ticket is €40, for children aged 3-12 – €24, and the youngest children travel for free. However, it should be noted that all tourists over the age of 13 also pay an additional administration fee of €1. This fee is also charged when travelling to Balos by car.
A cruise to Balos is undoubtedly the most popular excursion to a place that is a showcase of Crete. If you would like to learn a little more about it, we recommend our article about the Balos lagoon .
This year, cruises to Balos and Gramovousa will be available until October 30.
If you are planning to see Balos, but are wondering whether to choose a cruise or perhaps go by car, we recommend our archived article Balos by car or boat?
From May 20, those vacationing in the southeastern part of Crete in the Ierapetra region will be able to take a cruise to the beautiful "golden" island of Chrissi. The ship will depart daily at 11:30 from the port of Ierapetra.
For this cruise, the ticket price is the same as for Balos. An adult ticket costs €40, for children aged 3-12 years – €24. As with the cruise to Balos, the youngest children travel for free. For the cruise to Chrissi, there is also an additional administrative fee of €1 for each tourist over 4 years of age.
Chrissi Island - in 2025 the bans on entering the island are still in force

In the case of this cruise, it is important to remember that for several years now, access to the "Golden Island" has been prohibited. Based on the decision of the Greek Minister of Culture and Sports, the beaches of Pelegrina and Vougiou Mati located on Chrissi have been excluded from the concession system for the years 2023-25.
The great popularity of this unique place has led to the introduction of entry bans so that the destroyed nature can regenerate. This year, restrictions on access to Chrissia will also apply. It will be forbidden for ships to dock on the island and for passengers to disembark on the mainland. During the cruise, the ship only sails near Chrissia, and tourists can then take a bath and swim to the island on their own.
Cruises to Chrissi will be available until September 29.
