Wine and cheese at Fortezza

This Friday, June 21, in Rethymno, wine lovers should reserve a few hours of their time. The Wines @ Fortezza event organized by Wines of Crete, the municipality of Rethymno and the Association of Cretan Winemakers will be held in the local Fortezza fortress from 7:30 p.m. to 11 p.m. During this event, you will be able to taste over 200 different wines from 22 local wineries that belong to the Crete Winemakers Network. This is an excellent opportunity to compare the tastes of wines made from Cretan grapes with those made from grapes known on European markets. During the tasting, visitors will also be able to meet the winemakers themselves.

The local Galeni cheese factory - AFOI Zervo OE - will also take part in the event, so it will also be an opportunity to try high-quality Cretan cheeses. There is probably no better combination than wine and cheese. The event will be accompanied by live music with Eleni Dramitinou and Tina Tsimpidis.

Admission to this event is paid. The entrance ticket will cost €10.

The local authorities of Crete, looking for new customers, have started promoting wine tourism for several years. Friday's event, which will be organized for the fourth time, fits perfectly into this trend. Getting to know local wines, varieties and flavors means learning about the culture, traditions and inhabitants of the island. It is also a response to the message of the advertising campaign which advertises the island with the slogan " Crete, feel the authenticity ". It is intended to encourage visitors to discover everything that makes up this island's unique tourist experience.
