August is the time when various themed festivals start in Crete. A few days ago we wrote about the fantasticSfakian Pie festival , which will take place on August 26 in Chora Sfakion. A little earlier, in mid-August, there are two more interesting festivals: in Kissamos and Garazo. In September, a large cultural festival is planned in Hersonissos.
The All-Cretan Lemon Festival, which will take place on August 16, 17 and 18 in the small town of Garazo in the municipality of Mylopotamos in the central part of Crete, promises to be delicious. This festival is organized by the Garazo Cultural Association. It is worth mentioning that it is the longest functioning festival in Crete, which contributes to the promotion of local culture, history, folklore and gastronomy with its annual presence in the Crete calendar of events.
August 16 at At 20:30, chef Dina Nikolaou will present new gastronomic recipes based on lemons, and Christina Malliu will serve lemon ice cream of her own recipe. On August 17, a concert of Cretan music promises to be interesting, which will start at 21:30. Admission to these events will be free. On the last day of the festival, on August 18, there will be a concert by Yannis Kotsiras, Myrto Vassiliou and Dimitra Boulouzou. However, this event will be paid. The cost of entrance tickets is set at 12€.
The Festival of Taste and Art will take place in Kissamos from August 16-22. There will be plenty of cultural and culinary events here. Every day from 18:30 to 23:30 there will be an exhibition of local products and folk art.

On August 20 at 20:30 there will be a presentation of cooking with Cretan products. This chef-led lesson will also be available in English. On August 21, also at 20:30, there will be an interesting presentation entitled: The art of bread - tradition from generation to generation. On August 22, at the same time, a thematic cooking show "Sweet flavors with avocado and honey" will take place.
