Dakosy at the top of the TasteAtlas ranking

Dakosy is a very popular traditional dish in Crete, and basically a quick snack. With a grain of salt, it can be said that whoever was on the island and did not try the original barley biscuits served with tomatoes and mizithra cheese, did not know the local cuisine well. Despite the fact that dakos are gaining more and more popularity among tourists, they are far from the success of the famous horiatiki salata, i.e. a Greek salad, or rather a country salad, which is on the menu of every tavern and restaurant.

Interestingly, the popular culinary website TasteAtlas.com, which published a list of the 100 best salads in the world, has a slightly different opinion on the popularity of dakos. According to this portal, modest rusks took first place in this ranking, and the farmhouse or Greek salad was only fourth.
