The 65-year-old Austrian, who was rescued today from a steep terrain near the exit of the Samaria Gorge next to Agia Roumeli, can be very lucky. The man got stuck in rough terrain on Thursday afternoon, but was only brought from the rocks today.
The tourist was passing the Samaria Gorge, but in the final stage he climbed the surrounding rocks. Later, instead of going down the path, he most likely chose some shortcut that took him to a place from which he could no longer get out on his own. Fortunately, he managed to notify his wife, who called a rescue team.
In total, as many as 13 people went to help, including firefighters from Annopoli. The Coast Guard also took part in the rescue acacia, transporting firefighters to the vicinity, from where they could go further. Nevertheless, the degree of difficulty of this area and the late hour made it impossible to continue the rescue operation yesterday. Help came only this morning, so the tourist had to spend the whole night on a very steep rock. The operation ended around 11am today. Fortunately, this time everything ended well. Despite the dehydration, the tourist was in good condition after he was removed from the rocks. Just in case, after the end of the action, the rescuers handed the man over to a doctor in Agia Roumeli.
You can see what the unlucky (or lucky guy?) Download action looked like in the videos recorded by the rescue team.
