Kedrodasos beach cleaned by rugby players

The picturesque Kedrodasos beach is known especially for the cedar forest located in this place. At the peak of the holiday season, this natural forest refuge is quite popular among those who prefer wild camping. Certainly, some tourists who prefer this way of rest behave responsibly, trying not to harm the natural environment. Unfortunately, as it turns out, however, there is quite a large group of people who do not care about this type of issue. This is clearly seen by the effects of the volunteers of the " Cretan Gunners " group who decided to clean up the area of this beach.

Thanks to the hard work of 20 people, within a few hours they collected a fairly large number of bags filled with rubbish. Unfortunately, as they themselves admitted, the amount of various types of waste was so large that they had to limit themselves to eliminating the biggest problem that is plastic garbage. Among them, a significant proportion were plastic cups, PET bottles and baby wipes.

It is not surprising that after the completion of these works, " Cretan Gunners " were very indignant at what they found on the beach of Kedrodasos. A good summary is what one of them wrote on the Facebook profile: "There is a very big problem with education (ecological society). We have to change our mentality. No matter how many times the beaches are cleaned, this work does not make sense if the next day someone throws garbage there. " It is worth remembering this message not only while camping, but also just while on the beach.

Finally, a few words about " Cretan Gunners ". This is one of the first (if not the first) rugby teams in Crete. It was founded in 2015 by three residents of Chania who played this sport in various teams in Greece and Brazil. More information about them can be found directly at: cretangunners.gr

W zasadzie na każdej nieco bardziej odizolowanej plaży można ich spotkać. W przypadku Kedrodasos chyba nie ma na to jednak reguły. My ich nie spotkaliśmy :)
