Crete's climbing and mountaineering clubs are very thriving organizations. Each year, as part of their activities, they organize various types of trips and trips. Thanks to them, local tourists can visit many interesting places and walking routes located on Crete. As part of the activities undertaken by these clubs, an annual All-Climber Meeting of Climbers is also organized annually. This year the event was organized on 7-8 August in the very picturesque Rouvas forest. This year's meeting was already the 39th edition of this event, which only shows how popular it is among local mountain tourists and how strongly it has grown into the local tradition. If you would like to see what this meeting looked like, we encourage you to watch the short report prepared by Giannis Psaroudakais.
The event, which was attended not only by climbers from Crete and from all over Greece, was organized with the support of the Municipality of Fajstos and the Crete Region. The Mountaineering Club emphasized that the choice of the Rouvas forest for this meeting was no accident. It is one of the most important and unique ecosystems found in this part of the island. Its uniqueness is even determined by the fact that on the slopes around the forest grow important endemic plant species characteristic of Crete.
If you did not have the opportunity to see the Rouvas forest and the nearby Agios Nikolaos gorge, we strongly encourage you to a trip to this place. You can find useful information about it in our description: Gorge of St. Nicholas and the forest Rouvas.
