Most people associate the town of Fodele primarily with the El Greco museum located there. However, next Sunday, April 27, there will be an opportunity to get to know another side of this village. If you like oranges and are currently in Crete, drop by for the Orange Festival. These fruits are the hallmark of Fodele, because the town is full of orange and lemon groves. The festival itself is a celebration of orange flavors, aromas and colors. This event is organized in Fodele for the tenth time, and all the residents of this charming village are involved in its preparation.

Those who visit the festival in Fodele will have the opportunity to try unique, homemade products based on oranges, such as glyka tou koutaliou, which is a fruit in a very sweet syrup, which is a popular sweet treat in Greece served on spoons. In Fodele, the main ingredient of glyka tou koutaliou will of course be oranges. In addition, you will also be able to taste traditional pastries, cakes, tarts, liqueurs and drinks, the common denominator of which is oranges. At the same time, various crafts and handicrafts will be presented, as well as local products related to citrus groves.
The festival is scheduled to begin at 12:00, and in addition to tastings, the program includes music and dance performances and activities for children.
The event is organised by the Fodele Cultural Association “Domenikos Theotokopoulos” and the local community of Fodele, with the support of the Malevizi commune.
