In recent days, there have been more and more reports of flamingos walking on Cretan beaches. The Association for the Protection and Care of Wildlife ANIMA reports that it has recently received dozens of calls, photos and videos of such incidents. As it turns out, these are most often young individuals that have been carried away by the wind and lost their flock. So what should you do if you encounter a flamingo on the beach?

The Association for the Protection and Care of Wildlife ANIMA in its FB post informs that first of all, you should take care of the animal's peace and not disturb it or scare it away. Then it is best to inform the ANIMA association or other services about the flamingo.
In some cases, in order to provide assistance to a lost bird as quickly as possible, ANIMA asks that the flamingo be moved to the nearest area of shallow fresh water so that it can find food. However, such actions should not be taken without first contacting the association. Just in case, here is the organization's phone number: +30 21 0951 0075
