Landslide in MakryGialos

Last week we wrote about damage caused by bad weather in the port of MakryGialos in Lassithi Prefecture. However, this is not the end of the bad news. The land has been sliding on the side road leading to the port for several days. The greatest damage occurred yesterday evening when, after heavy rainfall, there was a significant rock slide. Boulders fell onto the road and blocked it this time. Fortunately, no one was passing by at that moment, but the place remains dangerous and the possibility of further landslides cannot be ruled out. Local authorities have already asked the Lassithi region for help in removing the rocks. Once the road opens, repair work will be undertaken.
