Rockslide after a downpour

Today's heavy downpour, which occurred in the central part of southern Crete, caused a rockslide. Stones fell on the road between Agios Kyrillos and Geros Kampos towards Lendas in the Gortyna commune. The force of the falling boulders was so great that even securing the steep slope with a metal mesh did not help. Rock fragments escaped the net and onto the road, making traffic on this section difficult. After this incident, it will be necessary to repair the safety net to reduce the risk of a similar incident in the future.
