Samaria remains open for two more weeks

Today, the planned closing date of the Samaria Gorge was officially confirmed. According to the announcements of the gorge authorities, the last day to complete the entire route will be October 31, 2023. However, the General Directorate reserves that in the event of receiving forecasts of unfavorable weather conditions or other circumstances that may pose a threat to visitors and employees, an earlier decision to close the gorge may be made. So there are still two weeks left to "do" Samaria if you are in Crete on a late autumn holiday. At the same time, the closure of this most popular Cretan gorge marks the symbolic end of the tourist season.
