The fact that Christmas is just around the corner is evidenced by the fact that last Friday evening the festive lighting in the Venetian Port in Chania was officially launched. This event attracted crowds of residents of this city. In addition to traditional light decorations hung on tenement houses and boats standing in the marina and a fireworks show, you could see the lights on a traditional Christmas tree flash for the first time. This symbol of Christmas has been adopted in Crete for good, even though decorating a tree was not popular here until recently. In Greece, the symbol of Christmas was (and still is) a decorated wooden boat. After wishing for the upcoming holidays by the mayor of Chania, the gathered people were carried away by the concert of Manos Malaxianakis.
