Although there is still a lot of time until the holiday travel season, more and more tourists appear in Crete every day. Certainly, there is also a fairly large group of people who have planned a spring trip to Greece as part of this year's picnic. For this reason, we would like to slightly organize the information related to the requirements that must be met before arriving at the airports there. At the moment, there are many incorrect and misleading opinions about the rules in force in Greece circulating on the Internet.
PLF only optional
A significant change compared to last year is the abolition of the need to fill out a Passenger Location Form (PLF) by all travelers visiting Greece. From March 15, filling in the so-called simplified PLF is fully voluntary. Its some advantage, however, is that after filling it in and based on the attached negative COVID test result, it is possible to generate a short-term EU digital COVID certificate.
Other regulations and requirements
First of all, it should be mentioned that last Monday the current rules for travelers arriving at Greek airports on international flights were extended once again. The provisions in the current form will apply until May 1. This is particularly important information for all those who are scheduled to arrive in April. At the moment, it is difficult to predict what requirements will be imposed on travelers arriving in Greece after May 1, so for now you can focus on recalling the current regulations.
If you do not have the European COVID EU certificate, regardless of the country from which you fly to Greece, you will be required to have a document confirming a negative test for the Covid virus. This requirement applies to all adults and children over 5 years of age. PCR testing must be performed no later than 72 hours before travel. The rapid antigen test must be performed up to 24 hours before departure.
COVID EU-certified persons are not required to perform additional tests. Of course, this certificate must be valid and must contain one of the following information:
Failure to meet these requirements may mean that you will not be able to cross the Greek border. Mandatory documents should be checked by airline employees before the flight. In the event that the deficiencies are found after arrival in Greece, the carrier may be obliged to send the traveler back at its own expense.
In addition, at the moment, there is still a rule that all travelers entering Greece, whether or not they are EU COVID certified holders, can be subjected to random COVID rapid tests on-site as soon as they arrive at the airport. If the test is positive, the traveler must be quarantined for five days in a home or temporary facility designated by the Greek authorities, starting from the day following the diagnosis of Covid-19.
Masks at airports
Finally, it is worth mentioning that in the light of the regulations still in force in Greece at airports and in the arrival and departure zones, as well as on all domestic and international flights, passengers are required to wear masks.
Planned lifting of restrictions
The so-called easing of restrictions related to Covid-19 mainly concerns the regulations concerning everyday functioning. Some changes have already been made, others will be gradual.

W samolocie bez maseczki
