Winter front of Filippos on Crete

Winter weather does not want to say goodbye to Crete. This time, due to the atmospheric front of Filippos, snowfall and the related road difficulties appeared again in the higher parts of the island. In addition, the prevailing temperature is far from the spring temperature.

Depending on the region, the thermometer readings stopped in the range of zero to just 4-5 degrees above zero.

Snow chains are required to travel on some roads. This is especially true of the routes around the Lassithi plateau and the village of Anogia and in the higher regions, where the snow layer sometimes exceeds half a meter.

Rock landslides have occurred in some places. so car traffic has either stopped or is rotating. This is currently the case for the road between Sitia and Ierapetra and Chania-Nerokourou-Therisso. Bad weather and snow are forecast tomorrow. However, we hope that this is the last twist of winter and that the long-awaited spring will finally come.
