Peaceful Agia Galini

Agia Galini is a popular seaside resort located on the south coast of Crete, 61 km southeast of Rethymno and 68 km southwest of Heraklion. The name Agia Galini means "Holy Peace" which suggests that it is a very quiet place and the sea is always calm. After the end of the tourist season, it really is like that here, peaceful and sleepy. During the summer months, however, it is a tourist destination that attracts several thousand tourists every year, who, in addition to beaches, a picturesque port and the atmosphere of a traditional village, will also find all possible amenities here. It used to be an ordinary fishing village, and in the 1960s and 1970s Agia Galini became one of the favorite places of hippies. It is also the place from which, according to Greek myths, Daedalus and Icarus flew away in search of freedom.

Mieszkaliśmy tak któregoś roku 10 dni, jak dla nas zdecydowanie za dużo ludzi, ale okolice super - jeździliśmy na wydmy do Agios Pavlos, na boczne plaże Thiopetry i plaże pomiędzy Thiopetrą a Precelki i bardzo nam się podobało. Ale kolejny raz w tamte okolice pojechaliśmy do Thiopetry.
