Cretan wines with medals

Wines of Crete is an association of Cretan winemakers operating since 2006. Its main goal is to promote Cretan wine and the development of wine tourism in Crete. The effects of the action are becoming more and more visible every year, and Crete systematically strengthens the image of a dynamic area producing wines from unique grape varieties. And yet wine has been present in Crete since ancient times and it is an important part of the Cretan diet. However, it was only through the joint activities of producers under the aegis of Wines of Crete that they began to be noticed and appreciated in wine competitions.

Recently, Cretan vineyards competed in two competitions, in which almost all the displayed wines from the island were awarded medals. First of all, we mean the most important wine competition in the world, Decanter World Wine Awards 2021 , in which this year a total of over 18,000 wines from 56 countries took part. For 15 consecutive days, almost 170 wine experts evaluated and selected the best wines. Cretan wines won 2 gold medals here, 20 silver and 39 bronze. The next competition is the 21st International Wine and Spirits Competition in Thessaloniki, from where Cretan winemakers brought 5 gold, 9 silver and 22 bronze medals. I must admit that the results of these competitions are a beautiful gift for the 15th anniversary of Wines of Crete. And ahead of us is another event in which Wines of Crete will also take part. This time it will be the World Wine Tourism Day, which will take place on November 14, 2021.

Magdalena Robaszewska A jednak wracają z medalami z konkursów. O czymś to świadczy. Dobrych win trzeba szukać w miejscowych winiarniach, których jest sporo na wyspie. Tutejsze szczepy są zupełnie inne a winiarze potrafią zrobić z nich zaskakujące wina.
