Today we invite you to watch a movie shot in the Koules Fortress in Heraklion. It is one of the most important and recognizable points on the tourist map of the capital of Crete. In the old days, this fortress was part of the fortifications that formed the tight ring surrounding Heraklion, the then city of Candia. Although today this building has only a historical function, it still perfectly reminds of the power of the Venetians who ruled Crete in the heyday of this fortress. From 2016, you can visit Koules after many years of renovation. Inside, you can see the remains of a ship dating back to the 9th-11th centuries AD, its equipment and transported cargo, excavated from the sea in 1976. The work was carried out by the well-known deep-sea explorer Jacques-Yves Cousteau in collaboration with Greek archaeologists.
