Crete's beaches are among the best in the world

At the end of January, we published the results of the ranking conducted by TripAdvisor for the most popular places in the world for this year. We would like to remind you that Crete took the 7th place in it, which is a signal that the interest of travelers in this island remains high for another year in a row. This time, TripAdvisor has published a ranking of the 25 best beaches in the world. And here are also two of the most popular Cretan beaches.

Balos is one of the most popular places in Crete

It is easy to guess that these are the most famous places in Crete and known to most tourists who have been to the island. The picturesque postcard Laguna Balos came 21st and the 24th was Elafonissi beach, famous for its pink sand. They are the only Greek beaches to be ranked in the World Travelers' Choice ranking.

In fact, there is no surprise here, because these beaches are among the best in the world for another year in a row. Interestingly, this year these beaches changed places compared to last year's ranking. A year ago, Balos took 24th place and Elafonissi 21st ...

This year, the winning beach in this ranking was the beautiful Australian Whitehaven Beach, famous for kilometers of white sand and crystal clear blue water.

Europe's best beaches

The results in the ranking of European beaches look slightly different. Here Balos was 6th and Elafonissi 7th. Compared to the 2020 ranking, Balos recovered from the 9th place, while Elafonissi took exactly the same place.

In addition to these two Cretan beaches, the ranking also includes other Greek beaches, both located on the island of Milos: Kleftiko Beach (9th) and Sarakino Beach (13th) And the highest-ranked European beach in 2021 is Spiaggia dei Conigli on the Italian island Lampedusa.

Elafonissi mnie trochę zawiodła. Może dlatego że tyleee się nasłuchałam o jej różowych piaskach, które były znikome, a pogoda była akurat bardzo pochmurna

Spiaggia dei Conigli jest na Lampedusie a nie na Sycylii :)

Zresztą Lampedusa to jedno z niewielu miejsc we Włoszech które urokiem i klimatem może konkurować z wyspami greckimi... Ale zważywszy na inny "klimat" tego miejsca to ja już wolę np. Chrissi...
