Organizing holidays yourself requires planning the necessary elements, such as choosing a carrier and purchasing airline tickets. Whether you book a guesthouse in advance, or whether you rely on a blind fate in this topic, it is a matter of how you want to spend your vacation. In the case of plane tickets, however, it is worth thinking about it in advance. Depending on the season and the density of the connection network, the availability of tickets and their prices vary. Regardless of whether you like to hunt for last minute ticket deals or book a flight a few months in advance, it's definitely worth noting that this season there was a new Wizz Air lineup. This year, the popular low-cost carrier is adding seven new vacation routes to Greece, Croatia and Bulgaria.
Connections in the new directions will be available from mid-June. What you will probably be especially interested in are the connections between Warsaw and Krakow and Heraklion in Crete. Fans of Greek islands from Warsaw and Krakow will also have the opportunity to fly to Santorini, while a flight to Corfu will be available from Katowice.
Flights to Crete and Santorini will be operated twice a week. From the airport in Warsaw to Heraklion in Crete and to Santorini, flights will take place on Tuesdays and Saturdays. In the case of Krakow, flights to Crete will be on the same days as from Warsaw, while to Santorini they are scheduled for Wednesdays and Sundays. The Katowice connection with the island of Corfu will also take place twice a week: on Wednesdays and Sundays.
Tickets are available in three options: the cheapest basic (only with hand luggage), visa (with checked luggage 20 kg) and the most expensive visz plus & flex (luggage 32 kg). Individual prices depend on the date and option selected.
Certainly, the new offer will be of interest to individual tourists. Greece, and especially Crete, are in the first places of preferences for travelers for this year's vacation. So far, however, this interest does not translate particularly into new accommodation reservations. At the local level, they are small and the majority of bookings existing in travel agency systems (15-20%) are those that have been canceled in 2020 and have been postponed to this season.
At the moment, the predictions about the upcoming season are a bit like reading tea leaves. The very fact that new Wizz Air connections are planned only from mid-June gives food for thought about what the first spring months of 2021 will look like. The uncertainty of travelers' procedures is great, and at the moment there is a lack of clear information not only from Greece but also from other countries.
