Spili is one of the many mountain villages in the central region of Crete. One of the most photographed and recognizable buildings in this town is the characteristic Venetian fountain consisting of 25 lion heads. Each of them gushes perfectly clean and very cold mountain water. So it should not be surprising that in the peak of the holiday season, tourists who are tired of the sun and high temperatures, willingly stop here for a long time to cool down.
However, the fountain is not the only thing that distinguishes Spili from other surrounding, much sleepier towns. Thanks to the extremely favorable location on one of the main roads connecting the southern and northern parts of the coast of Crete, Spili is still teeming with life. Around the main square and along the streets there are not only a large number of various shops with local products, but also taverns. Being in this part of the island, a visit to Spili can be considered one of the iron points of the program. We guarantee that you will not leave this town empty-handed. For now, however, we would like to invite you for a short walk around Spili recorded by Zameer Pactyan.
