Greece is a country that can boast not only one of the most famous and recognizable monuments, but also a place with extraordinary landscapes, as well as unique flora and fauna. Unfortunately, it sometimes happens that the reception of this natural beauty spoils the view of scattered garbage. The activities undertaken as part of the " Let's do it Greece " program are targeted at this type of problems. This year, April 7 will be the eighth edition of this event, which is one of the largest volunteer activities of this kind in general.
The organizers of the program " Let's do it Greece " try not to impose a rigid framework related to the form of an event implemented as part of this project in the local community. It is important that the actions taken bring environmental benefits. What counts is not only the achievement of real effects (eg in the form of collected rubbish or the arrangement of the designated area), but also the benefits of the educational aspects of the activities undertaken.
This year, as of now, almost 770 various types of events have been submitted throughout Greece, as part of the " Let's do it Greece " project. Some of them will, of course, take place in Crete. It is worth mentioning such as cleaning the coast in the area of Kissamos, Ammoudara, Chania, Ierapetra, Sitia and many more.
Unfortunately, it is one of the Cretan beaches where rubbish is a huge problem
If you are staying on Crete next weekend, you can join one of these actions. A detailed list (unfortunately only in Greek) along with the map can be found on the following page: www.letsdoitgreece.org
We will support this event from our side. We also hope that the organizers will be able to achieve the target set before 2021, which is to get over 3,000 in a single edition. reported events in which 5% of Greek citizens will participate.
