Mastic (masticha) is a very aromatic natural resin obtained on the island of Chios. It can serve as a spice for sweet pastries or other dishes. It is sometimes added to chewing gums, ice cream, toothpaste, sweet loukoumi, and at the same time is an addition to cosmetics.
