This year is of particular importance for the Greeks, as March 25, 2021, marks the 200th anniversary of the announcement of the next Greek revolution against the Turkish occupation. But how was this spurt different from many others provoked by the Greeks under Turkish rule? Well, this revolution contributed to the creation of the modern Greek state and finally regaining independence. Of course, it didn't happen immediately, because the results had to be waited for. However, thanks to the support of France, Great Britain and Russia, in 1830 Greece won its independence.
As you can guess, for the obvious reason, there will be no big celebration. The original program of this year's celebrations has been completely cut. Which does not mean that the anniversary will be celebrated only at home. The main celebrations will take place in Athens. Syntagma Square was decorated with 200 Greek flags, special decorations and lighting were also created. The flag and the year 2021 were arranged from white and blue flowers. A military parade is also planned for tomorrow in the capital of Greece. Foreign politicians from countries that in 1821 somehow contributed to the success of the uprising are also to appear. The Russian Prime Minister, Prince Charles and his wife, and the French Defense Minister will be present. The media interest is high, so you will certainly find reports of these celebrations on many websites.

A well-known Greek air carrier - Aegean Airlines, whose services you may have used - came up with an interesting way of celebrating. Well, to emphasize the importance of this round anniversary, the plane of these lines "turned" today in the Greek sky a huge number of 200. Plotting this symbolic number, the plane began over the place where the revolution began, ie the Peloponnese. The five-year-old Airbus A320 then flew at an altitude of 20,000 feet over Ancient Olympia, Kalavrita, Corinth, Argos and ancient Dervenakia.
