In recent days, volunteers working within the Archelon organization have unveiled the first nests of Caretta-Caretta turtles in Crete. Thanks to their work, the vast majority of small turtles got to the sea. It is important for as many newly hatched turtles as possible to end up in the water, as out of a thousand only one individual will reach adulthood. Most, unfortunately, fall prey to all kinds of animals. Another such action is planned at the end of this week in towns located in the western region of the north coast of Crete. A detailed schedule of discovered sockets can be found in the graphics below and the rest of the news.
By the way, we would like to remind you to always pay special attention to the places where Caretta Caretta turtle nests have been marked. It's best if you leave their area intact. You can find more information about these turtles and Archelon on our website.
