Everyone in all countries has been complaining about rising fuel prices in recent months. It is also no better in Greece, where the highest prices in history were recorded.
According to the Greek Ministry of Development, the average domestic price of unleaded gasoline reached EUR 1,841 per liter, thus breaking the highest record to date from 2012, when one liter of gasoline had to be paid EUR 1,838.
The highest average price is currently recorded in the Cyclades (€ 2,040 / l), followed by the Dodecanese (€ 1,980 / l) and in the Evrytania region (€ 1,937 / l). Slightly lower fuel prices can be found in the city center, an example of which is Thessaloniki (€ 1,809 / l). Also in Crete, every day brings higher and higher gasoline prices. For example, today's price at the stations was € 1.823, and on February 1, € 1.804 per liter.
This is the largest increase in fuel prices in 8 years and, according to forecasts, this tendency will not change in the near future. The demand is still growing, and the supply is not necessarily. The situation is made even worse by the ongoing pandemic, as more people prefer to use their own cars to avoid crowded public transport.
As everywhere else, higher transport costs translate into higher prices for goods and services.
