Local ferries can be used to move between certain localities along the western part of the south coast of Crete. It is this means of transport that allows you to reach selected places faster, to which access by car is difficult or even impossible. Thanks to the ferry connections, it is also possible to plan interesting trips yourself, especially if you spend your holidays in Paleochora, Sougia or Chora Sfakion.
Currently, ferry connections are offered by two carriers: Anendyk and Nen Kritis. Anendyk has a very extensive network of frequent connections and operates over a larger area of the island. Unfortunately, Nen Kritis offers significantly fewer sailings, but the prices are slightly lower. An additional limitation of Nen Kritis is that the cruises only operate between Paleochora and Agia Roumeli.

Anendyk ferries operate from the Chora Sfakion (Sfakia) area via Loutro to Agia Roumeli and in the opposite direction on the Agia Roumeli-Sougia-Paleochora route. An additional option are cruises to the island of Gavdos, both from Paleochora and from Chora Sfakion.
From July 1, new timetables will come into force, so if you plan to move around these places, it is worth paying attention to the changes in the timetables.
