International flights to regional airports in Greece will be launched from July 1. The first passengers will appear at the airports in Chania and Heraklion, including from Poland. As the deputy minister for civil protection, Mr Nikos Hardalias, who is visiting the airport in Chania today, will be tested for coronavirus at the airports. For the airport in Chania it will be a maximum of 275 checks per day, while in Heraklion up to 835 tests will be carried out daily.
Additional information is the Greek Civil Aviation Authority directive published today, which will apply from today to 31 August 2020. It provides for the mandatory completion of the international passenger location form (PLF). All travelers traveling to Greece, regardless of their form of transport, are required to complete this form at least 48 hours before their scheduled arrival in Greece.
In the case of air transport, the data to be provided in the form relate to information about the airlines operating the flight, dates and place of landing, very detailed information about the stay in Greece, information confirming identity and contact details. If the traveler was shortly before arriving in Greece in countries other than his residence, this fact should also be provided. This form is available at https://travel.gov.gr/#/. Anticipating any questions, we immediately point out that we do not know who fills out this form if you travel with a travel agency. It will probably require contact with the office organizing the trip.
After completing the form, the traveler's information will be collected in a database. After analyzing them, each traveler will receive their special QR code, on the basis of which the Greek authorities will nominate people to perform the tests. According to sources, this code will have to be presented to personnel at the check-in point (on the printout or in the cell). After showing it, the airport staff will decide whether the passenger will immediately go to the baggage claim area or be redirected to coronavirus testing. Until the results of the screening test are available, passengers from whom samples are taken are required to maintain self-isolation at the destination (i.e. purchased hotel), whose address must be provided in the passenger location form . After completing the medical procedures, the examined passengers will be directed to the exit. Similar procedures have been developed for travelers arriving in Greece by ferry and car.
Of course, all passengers at the airport are required to comply with all necessary preventive measures, such as mask, social distance regardless of private views of the pandemic and virus: P
