Probably a large part of our readers associates the Omalos plateau . In particular, it applies to those people who managed to pass the Samaria Gorge during their summer breaks. Probably, however, not many of you, and indeed the indigenous inhabitants of Crete, know that there is another plateau bearing the same name on the island. The second Omalos bearing additionally according to the size of the name of Mały, is in the massif of the Dikte mountains. This is a unique place that is rarely the destination of tourist trips. The only regular guests visiting this plateau are the shepherds and animals grazed by them.
Every spring, from a melting snow, a small lake is formed on this plateau. In the film above you can see how exceptionally abundant this year's rain and snow caused that this year it is particularly large. The peace and silence prevailing on the Omalos plateau makes this place very much visited by wild birds.
