Garbage on the beaches of Mirambello Bay

data_2019-07-06 19:54:46 2019-07-06 19:54:46

Beaches located in the area of Kalo Chorio, Pachia Ammos or Kavousi are undoubtedly one of the best beaches along the bay of Mirmabello. The idyllic landscape stretched along this part of the coast seems to complement the happiness of the owners of guesthouses in this area of Crete. Unfortunately, due to the unresolved problem of large amount of rubbish arriving at local beaches, for many years the situation is quite different and causes more and more frustration among the residents of nearby towns.

On the occasion of each of our visits in the east of Crete, we are sorry to observe how the situation on such beaches as Agios Panteleimonas and Pachia Ammos is gradually deteriorating. From year to year, the amount of waste accumulated in these places is increasing. Ad hoc actions undertaken by the local community bring only short-term effects. Every time it's a matter of time for new garbage to appear. Unfortunately, as a result of the sea, which we saw with our own eyes, part of the plastic waste turned into a small plastic sand. Getting rid of these rubbish beaches will be extremely difficult in the future.

The concentration of rubbish on the beaches there has been observed for a long time. Initially, this problem was solved by changing the way local waste was collected and exported. As a result, the residents were even charged with additional fees. Unfortunately, these changes have not brought any improvement in the long term.

Among Pachia Ammos residents there is a consistent opinion on the source of this trash. According to them, the fact that they appear on local beaches is the merit of, among others, passing ships that illegally throw their waste into the sea. Interesting is also what in the article neakriti said one of the residents: "Every summer, when the wind begins to blow meltemi on our coast, garbage discourages local and foreign tourists to rest on our beaches (...) We have been publicizing this problem for many years, but no one listens to us. We have asked the Ministry of the Environment to send inspectors to other islands in the Cyclades to shut down illegal landfills there that pollute the sea. "

The president of the municipal commune, Pachia Ammos, also referred to this topic, who emphasized that much of the trash found on their beach is easy to identify. In particular, this applies to plastic bags on which the names of stores are printed and their addresses. Many of these cases concern companies operating in the Cyclades. These entrepreneurs should be responsible for the waste they produce, which are not processed properly or are stored in a wrong way.

Pachia Ammos, the president of the municipal municipality, also appealed to the Kreta authorities to take some real actions. He proposes, among other things, hiring a special ship that deals with the collection of pollution floating on the surface of the sea. He claims that this type of unit operates, for example, in the area of the port of Thessaloniki and could contribute to making the beaches in the area of Mirambello bay again attractive to tourists.

gość dodekanezowiec: Moim zdaniem - gdyby porównywać Grecję, Hiszpanię i południowe Włochy to: 1. W kategorii autentyczność: Włochy (np. Kalabria, Sycylia) - 9/10, Grecja - 8/10, Hiszpania - 3/10 2. W kategorii "frontem do potrzeb turysty": Hiszpania - 9/10, Grecja - 7 i pół/10, Włochy - 4/10.  Hiszpania to jakość hoteli, świetna infrastruktura, ale i taka "macdonaldyzacja turystyki" + blokowiska.
