This morning there is the latest information about the start of the tourist season and the resumption of flights. The Greek government decided to start the tourist season faster than previously expected.
It will be opening for domestic tourism on May 25, but in fact the first critical date will be May 29, when large hotels and campsites will open. Tourism employees are waiting for them, i.e. the launch of seasonal hotels is to take place on June 15. On the same day, Greece is to open its borders to the first tourists from abroad. By this date, however, you will only be able to fly to Athens International Airport. At the same time, the authorities decided that only tourists from 19 countries with good epidemiological indicators will be allowed to enter Greece. These will be: Cyprus, Israel, China, Japan, Australia, Norway, Denmark, Austria, Bulgaria, Serbia, Romania, Albania, Northern Macedonia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Poland, Hungary, Slovakia and the Czech Republic.
International flights to the islands, as announced by the Greek Prime Minister, will be possible from July 1. On the same day, guests from other countries will be able to cross Greek borders, unless their epidemiological data deteriorates. Government officials announce that verification of incidence rates will be checked regularly.
Interesting are even yesterday's announcements of the Greek tourism minister, who announced that despite earlier announcements of the need to perform tests for the presence of coronavirus, tourists who want to come to Greece will not be obliged to do so. If necessary, however, it may not be possible to perform selective local tests.
It now remains to wait for the decision of the Polish authorities to open the borders and restore international air traffic.
