Yesterday, in the village of Kamari, the new museum object was inaugurated, the main subject of which is the production of wine and viticulture. This place is not only about the history of this craft, but it is also a way to promote the agricultural activity of the Maleviziou region. The mayor announced that at the moment, further activities are planned to enrich the cultural offer of this place.
It is worth noting that the implementation of this undertaking was based on the existing infrastructure. This project allowed to restore abandoned buildings of the former school. For an amount exceeding just over 350,000 € a comprehensive adaptation has been carried out. In this way about 1.5 thousand were obtained. sq.m. exhibition space on which various historical tools and photographs documenting the work of former winemakers were collected.
Kamari is a small town, which in 2011 was inhabited by only 113 inhabitants. It is located less than 20 kilometers from Heraklion in close proximity to Tylissos. The location of the Wine and Vine Museum is not accidental, because here is one of the centers of growing grapes. Apart from olives, they constitute one of the main sources of maintenance for local residents.
If we are going to cross the area of Crete in the future, we will definitely visit this museum.
