Greece and Crete are very often a place that is not friendly enough to people with disabilities. Narrow footpaths, ridiculously high curbs and lack of empathy among the participants of the movement cause that moving there is difficult even for people without any physical disabilities. That is why we are happy with even the smallest investment increasing the availability of various places for people with disabilities. In recent days, a decision has been made that on the beaches of the municipality of Rethymno a project will be launched to install equipment to help people with disabilities to get to the beaches.
The total cost of this project is estimated at over 140,000. €. A significant part of these funds will be obtained under the budget of the EU operational program. One of the main elements of this project will be SeaTrac ramps visible in the attached photos. Thanks to the SeaTrac system, people with disabilities can enter and leave the sea without the help of third parties.
We have described them in one of our previous news.
